Job Title Multi-Skilled Technician Mechanical biased technician supporting process operations and maintenance activities across the site. Shift based Panama Style Pattern Reporting to the area Lead Engineer and working as part of a multi-skilled team on shift this role will carry out planned and reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance as required. Key Responsibilities Work as part of the engineering team to carry out maintenance work on machinery and equipment within the Bury Customer Supply complex. This includes maintenance of packaging, milling, and product handling equipment as well as site infrastructure. Troubleshooting and practical fault finding on plant and mechanical systems. Installation of new plant or modifications as appropriate Carry out planned inspection routes on process plant and proactive maintenance. During maintenance periods undertake maintenance activities as well as testing and commissioning plant in readiness for operations. Reporting of all engineering activities in the appropriate format into the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Making plant safe for maintenance. Scope Responsible for safe and compliant reactive and proactive maintenance of plant within Customer Supply. Testing and commissioning of plant. Making equipment safe for maintenance to the business standards. Troubleshooting and practical fault finding on plant. Decision Making Ability to make decisions to ensure safe and compliant maintenance of plant & equipment. Ability to prioritise key engineering activities. Ability to make appropriate engineering decisions to ensure effective maintenance of plant and equipment. Ability to use knowledge and experience to make a call on when to take an operational piece of plant offline and understand the urgency of its return to service. Key Relationships Operational relationships with Engineering Management and technicians, Process operators and Shift performance managers, APG and APU Leaders. Also close liaison with the health and safety, project engineering and development teams. Knowledge and Qualifications Comprehensive technical knowledge gained through large scale, complex operational factory experience. - Essential Understanding of hazards and controls associated with a complex industrial environment and producing food and feed.- Essential ONC / HNC in Mechanical Engineering supported by a recognised apprenticeship.- Essential Experience A proven track record of effective technical problem solving, fault diagnosis, maintenance and continuous improvement.- Essential Experience of working in a lean operating environment.- Essential Experience of working in a operational team of varying disciplines and skill levels.- Essential Skills and Abilities Good communication ability across all levels of the site, across sites and between all functions. - Essential Good analytical skills - Essential Ability to work as an individual and with groups. - Essential Ability to effectively balance urgent and important tasks. - Essential Ability to demonstrate practical hands on skills, competence and knowledge of maintenance and condition monitoring activities in a large scale manufacturing process. - Essential IND123
