The Landscape Designer will support the Landscape Department in design efforts including meeting with clients, conducting field investigations and site analyses, developing conceptual designs, renderings, and construction drawings, performing contract administration, and assist with installation crew oversite for residential, commercial, and capital projects.
Use of Company Vehicle: May be required to drive a company vehicle
Duties: Design detailed representations of jobs to include developing conceptual designs, renderings, and construction drawings for use in both selling projects to clients and guiding the construction of those jobs Meet with prospects to discuss and develop potential projects Assist with preparation of project estimates and proposals Perform or assist with contract administration for both residential and commercial projects Work with multiple landscape installation and maintenance crews over various job sites and assist in establishing task priorities, schedules, and track work assignments Provide guidance and work with team members to ensure the availability of resources for projects Conduct field investigations and site analyses Assist with oversight of installation crews, including inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with landscape specifications, to approve quality of materials and work Work with Landscape Architects to track and maintain cost controls over projects and designs to achieve budgeted or forecasted goals Work with project stakeholders to see projects to completion and satisfy client expectations Assist with driving financial aspects including revenue, cost of goods sold and controllable expenditures Regularly communicate with clients and managers and provide timely and exceptional follow-up including progress reports as well as problems and solutions Work with regulatory review agencies to obtain approval of projects Prepare routine reports Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, as well as safety training while complying with legal regulations Maintain a thorough knowledge of Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions to the best of one's ability Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from accredited Landscape Architecture program Two (2) years' experience in residential and/or commercial landscape design preferred Proficiency in AutoCAD, Land FX, Sketch-up, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D rendering and Microsoft Office Effectively produce professional landscape plans and renderings through a combination of hand drawings and computer aided tools Clearly present and explain designs to current and potential clients Work with a team to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget Must possess strong knowledge of the local plant palette Must be familiar with all aspects of site implementation including plant material, irrigation, storm sewer, hardscapes, pools and water features, grading, site lighting, underground utilities, etc. Have a core understanding of basic construction principles and concepts Familiar with regulatory codes, OSHA and AIA/ASLA/DNR guideline codes Detail oriented and able to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Consistently aspires to fulfill our core Company values (Respect, Integrity, Passion, Teamwork, Accountability, Caring, Loyalty & Trust) Exhibits the Sea Island Five-Star Behavior Standards with guests, members, and co-workers Must possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with coworkers efficiently and effectively Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in compliance with company Dress Code Policy
Physical Responsibilities: Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy If applicable, must have the ability to work for extended periods of time in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain and higher than normal noise levels Ability to lift, carry, pull, and push up to 35 lbs intermittently throughout a shift Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal No visible tattoos, visible body piercing or unnatural hair color or hairstyles per company grooming standards
