Human Resources Officer (Part Time) hours per week Up to £40k salary pro-rata negotiable depending on experience 33 days holiday (pro rata) and Contributory Pension Location Whetstone, Leicester (LE8 6NU) Base Materials Ltd are a chemical engineering business with its core activities being the manufacture of styling, modelling and tooling materials for the production of high quality precision moulds, master models, jigs & fixtures, across a diverse range of applications and industries including automotive, aerospace, motor sport, marine and varied industrial application. As part of our ongoing Growth Plan, we are seeking to broaden our internal expertise through the appointment of an experienced Human Resources Officer / Assistant into a newly scoped out role. This role will suit someone from an SME Manufacturing background who is a HR Generalist and comfortable with working on the day to day HR issues as well as being proactive. Supported and mentored by an Independent Human Resources Consultant, HR plays a vital role at Base it s our job to work closely with the team to enable business success, drive cultural change, deliver efficiencies and support people management and development. We are looking for someone with energy, drive, enthusiasm and good pace. Are you confident in advising 1st Line Management on any Employee Relations / Legislation issues? You will need to be up to date and strong in ER. Are you known for being driven, direct and able to react quickly to situations that require it, striving to provide solutions whilst applying your commercial acumen? Are you resolute in focusing on results and to tackle any problems or conflicts which get in the way despite opposition or resistance? Are you able to Mentor, Counsel, Coach and generally support those in the business who are not confident in their area of competence, building morale and personal esteem and generally encouraging others to give their best performance? Your ultimate goal is to be the onsite day to day HR person and assist the HR Consultant to Develop a professional HR Function that can deliver skilled, creative, motivated, flexible and committed employees. In this busy generalist role, you will be involved in a number of key duties including, but not exclusive to: Discipline and Grievance providing advice for line managers and employees on company procedures, ensuring appropriate investigations are conducted, minute taking and managing all relevant correspondence. Answering day to day HR queries The maintenance of sickness data Full administration of the starter/leaver process Management and reporting of all exit interviews Manage the Induction of new employees into the organisation identifying training needs as and when appropriate. Draft contractual paperwork and offer letters when required. Carrying out research on various topics and maintaining our filing system. Ensure enforcement of internal procedures and controls Identify, plan and evaluate training and development of staff in conjunction with operational managers Act as Custodian to existing Contractual and Policy Documentation and our online HR system, People HR. Manage, update and implement the company s policies and procedures for HR and Training in conjunction with external HR Consultant if appropriate Recruit new staff into the organisation with support of the appropriate manager(s) ensuring both company and legislative compliance, and management of all required documentation/checks Collection of data, data analysis and reporting on all HR related KPI s (Staff turnover, attendance, absence, sickness etc) Requirements / Qualifications: To be successful you ll come to us with experience in Employee Relations and Employment Legislation, strong administrative experience dealing with highly confidential matters and be comfortable juggling multiple priorities. Experience working within an SME Manufacturer is advantageous (if not essential) and you will ideally have a minimum CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) and be working in a role of a similar nature. We use PeopleHR as our HRIS so experience of this would be an advantage. With strong interpersonal skills, you ll be highly organised, self-motivated and confident in your approach.
