Divisional Gas Manager Full-Time, Permanent Woking/Portsmouth (To be agreed) £50,000 PURPOSE OF ROLE To be accountable for the safe and compliant delivery of gas works across the company s business in all service streams and to grow the opportunities available for the company for gas works. To be accountable for the operational delivery of gas works on the Woking Contract ensuring servicing and repairs represent value for money, have high standards of workmanship, are effected with a health and safety focus, and meet our purpose of the right work at the right time through following the defined process to meet the needs of the tenant. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Be the Gas Duty Holder for the company verifying gas works ensuring compliance to current statutory regulations. Quality check on gas work carried out across all areas Technical advice on gas issues Approval of gas subcontractors Support on tenders with gas service delivery Woking Contract Responsible for managing and supervising domestic and communal heating service and maintenance of the housing stock on behalf of Woking Borough Council. Ensure Engineers and Store area have suitable stock, which is being replenished, and that they are using materials and equipment efficiently. Escalate to the Contract Manager any serious events or occurrences that need to be addressed urgently, and highlight key issues, trends or issues that could affect service delivery performance longer term if not addressed. Be accountable for the jobs you manage, supporting the Operations Centre when pulled upon to deal with technical queries or general issues. Recruit and induct engineers, ensuring they have a professional introduction to the company and contract and ensure the probationary process is effectively managed and completed to a successful outcome for the company. Reinforce the Health and Safety culture by ensuring that company practices and policies are being followed and adhered to by you and others in the field, undertaking documented observations, highlighting issues and trends as they occur. Carry out accident incident, and near miss investigations, ensuring these are completed in a professional and timely manner. Ensure that you follow and adhere to the Integrated Management Systems, processes, and procedures. Undertake Audits in association with business requirements including, gas certification (LGSR) from internal team & external contractors When required, conduct work on both servicing and reactive repairs in order to support the demand. Provide escalation as part of an out of hours service, attending site where requested. Embrace the company s ethos of Integrity, built-in - doing the right thing even when no one is looking . SKILLS REQUIRED Able to recruit and induct staff ensuring they have a professional introduction to the company and contract. Be the technical expert for associated works, providing efficient and effective solutions where required. Able to lead and coach a team in the achievement of the services purpose. Able to operate in a changing and evolving environment and enjoy the challenge. Possess interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels in a professional manner being able to challenge and be challenged Have an organised approach to work and time management. Able to apply a practical approach and solutions to Health & Safety. Proficient in MS Office to an intermediate level and able to use an IT system for job management understanding how it functions and interacts with other systems. Comfortable using data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement, and able to use Excel to manipulate data to produce measures and present estimates for jobs. Be a team player by understanding what it is to be part of a team sharing experiences and learning. Proactive in identifying your development needs and doing something to overcome them. Be able to self-manage and be self-motivated, prioritising work and have a desire to solve problems and eliminate waste. Be comfortable in dealing with all staff to motivate and direct them to assist you in improving the service. Comfortable dealing with contentious issues and situations with tenants, operatives, or sub-contractors and able to develop, coach, and train the team to achieve the same. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Technical building knowledge of working methods, practices, procedures, processes, regulations, and legislation. Knowledge of Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 Strong diagnostic experience Central heating installation experience The role also requires you to support the team with your technical knowledge therefore previous experience and a qualification in a Gas Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) is essential. Have knowledge of the materials and methods used in the construction of social housing. QUALIFICATION Gas Safe Accreditation Current ACS qualified to include the following elements: CCN1, CENTWAT, HTR1, CKR1 or to have held it recently. Construction Skills Certificate Scheme accreditation. IOSH Managing Safely. Have a full driving licence. EXPERIENCE 2 5 yrs. experience of working in a Building Maintenance environment managing a gas team.
