We aim to lead the way in youth singing and music for ensemble voices, developing new and accessible creative and educational approaches to inspire and engage young people at all stages of their development. Delivered by experts in their field, our programmes offer the highest standard of musical engagement, training and performance, stretching, and challenging and exciting participants. National Youth Choirs of Great Britain Creative Director Location: Flexible (national) - remote working or based out of our Durham office, with UK wide travel Salary: £62,000 - £65,000 pro rata Hours: Part-time, up to 28 hours per week NYCGB are looking to appoint a Creative Director to provide executive creative leadership, and work alongside the Chief Executive to take the organisation on to the next stage of its development, building NYCGB's national community and growing our role as a champion for excellent and inclusive youth singing. After a successful decade of growth under our current Artistic Director, the new Creative Director will join us at a pivotal moment. As we approach our 40th anniversary in 2023 and launch a new five-year strategy, you will have a critical role to play in shaping the future of NYCGB. The Creative Director will: lead our creative and learning programme set the vision and creative strategy provide leadership for the creative and learning team develop partnerships and creative opportunities to enhance our offer build NYCGB's national and international reputation and profile Depending on skills and experience, the Creative Director may also undertake the additional role of Principal Conductor, working with the National Youth Choirs. We are looking for a visionary and committed creative leader, from conductors and non-conductors, who shares our values and our belief in the importance of music education for all young people, understands the power and potential of high-quality singing to change lives and values the voices of young people as collaborators in the creative process. Our ideal candidate will bring: significant creative and musical leadership experience a passion and drive to develop innovative creative and learning programmes and partnerships an understanding of excellent and inclusive practice a commitment to achieving greater representation in the music sector. You will be a compelling communicator, able to connect with and inspire young people, audiences, supporters and stakeholders alike, and will bring excellent networks to support NYCGB. NYCGB embraces a rich diversity of music and creative experiences. While candidates should have a good knowledge of a breadth of choral/vocal music, we are interested in hearing from candidates from a range of musical and creative backgrounds. The Creative Director does not necessarily need to have experience in choral direction and may apply for the post as a standalone role. However, candidates with exceptional conducting/choral leadership experience may wish to apply to combine this post with a delivery role as Principal Conductor alongside the other responsibilities of the Creative Director role.
