Commercial Director Polymer Commodities Distribution UK/Home Based Job ref: CST/58085 Salary/Benefits: Commensurate with experience The client: The company is a leader in the distribution of both specialty and commodity polymers. They are part of an international group that has partnerships with many world-leading producers and offer their customers a wide range of materials, dedicated service offering and a motivated experienced business team. Primary role: Hands-on leadership of the commodities business including P&L, driving/supporting external sales team, maximizing customer development opportunities (existing and new), and management of close supplier partnerships. Taking responsibility for all commercial activities including sales strategy, business development, pricing, key account management, procurement and external customer relations. Responsibilities: Develop and grow sales profitably in line with plans for commodity business, taking a leading role in the preparation of sales budget/forecasting Take the lead for all commercial decisions regarding the commodity business and be hands-on in the development of customers/suppliers In collaboration with the CEO, develop a sales strategy for the commodity business Responsible for the clear communication of the strategy to the sales team Develop a strong pipeline of new opportunities capable of delivering net growth that meets the business objectives monitoring and reporting on all commercial deals in the UK/Ireland Understand, monitor and report on all key sales drivers to deliver budget (KPI s). Measuring both individual and business performance against budget and company objectives. Management of supply partners and material procurement ensuring a good relationship is maintained and objectives are met in terms of sales, margin and pricing strategy Support external sales team with key client business development, where applicable. Hiring and training of team members in alignment with the executive board Carry out annual performance appraisals of team members and set goals and objectives Measure business success rate and commercial deals for the commodity business Take corrective actions as necessary to maintain high level of customer satisfaction Participate in sales meetings and present to management team/board as requested Attend customer events, seminars and exhibitions as required The following experience is required: Long-standing and relevant professional experience in commodity sales and/or procurement Preferably with existing market knowledge in the polymer distribution sector Consideration will also be given to related areas such as masterbatch, other commodities Management skills with team working abilities Good financial acumen and knowledge in Business Management, especially margin analysis Personal skills: Efficient time management and organizational skills.
