We are working with an excellent Primary Provision for students with Autism based in West Kenton. About the role- ASC Teaching Assistant You will be working IN THIS West Kenton based school with primary students ages 3-11 who attend the school's provision for students with Autism and an EHCP statement of SEN. They are currently looking for a teaching assistant to join their team in the provision to work on a 1-1 basis with students who struggle to engage with lessons. Some students may have speech and language communication needs so experience using forms of non-verbal communication such as PECS and Makaton are highly desirable but not essential. You may also be required to assist your assigned student within mainstream classrooms also for lessons they feel capable of engaging in. This will be a full-time term time position with the offer of a permanent contract for the successful candidate at the end of the academic year. About the school- ASC Teaching Assistant The school is based in West Kenton, serviced by Overground, Underground, West Midlands rail and several bus routes so is easily accessible for those commuting to the school. The school has a mainstream nursery and primary school as well as a resource base for students with Autism with 12 full-time spaces available in the provision. They have excellent facilities including a sensory room, soft play and quiet room as well as expansive play areas for students. There are also onsite counsellors and therapists for students who need it. The school and staff believe in celebrating differences of students and wants all children at5tending to believe in themselves, their abilities and that they can make a difference in the world whatever their abilities.
